One thing that I’ve really begun to look at quite often are the poker hand histories from my good hands as well as bad beats. Poker hand histories allow me to see if I messed up or if I actually did something right (for a change lol). It has been very beneficial to my game because it enables me to examine previous plays as well as real time play against other players. But one thing that I’ve learned is that it won’t make much of a difference when one doesn’t know what they’re looking for in the first place.

With this being the case, it’s helpful if you use your hand histories in different settings. If you can’t tell whether or not you’re right or wrong, you could try discussing it with other players by posting your hand history on a forum and they will help you dissect your moves. It is always a positive thing to hear more than your own opinion about a play.

If you’re not into reading a huge page of text, there is an alternative. Some websites allow you to plug your hand history in and watch the hand play out in an animated experience. It isn’t as boring to do this and you won’t have to read through a load of text. Most people find this to be better than positng a hand history on forums because it is easier to pick up pointers from the animated hand visually than it is to read through it.

Another option to keep in mind is reviewing famous players’ hand histories. Looking at famous players’ hand histories can show you great tips on how to play comparable hands. To do this you’ll need to go to websites that allow you to type the player name in, and it will show you a list of their hand histories.
