I must admit that when I first saw previews for the “World of Jenks” on TV, it wasn’t the most appealing show to me. Great….another documentary show by some lucky punk who got a deal right out of film school. But one episode caught my attention and made me actually sit down to watch the show.

The episode I’m referring to is one with pro player Nick Schulman who host Andrew Jenks followed around Las Vegas while filming the show. The beginning showed Schulman living a typical young and successful grinder lifestyle with him gambling on virtually everything with his buddies in addition to taking down a $19k-something pot in online poker. Of course to Schulman it was no big deal, but to Jenks it was pretty crazy.

Nick Schulman and his friends did plenty of partying and poker playing throughout the night, which Jenks eventually couldn’t handle and had to retire to get some sleep. Once Jenks woke up, he was back to documenting Schulman’s lifestyle, and this included a trip to London where Nick played in a televised tournament (tourney name was never mentioned).

Back in America, it was WSOP time as Shulman played in the Main Event; eventually, he busted out and his Main Event was done. The episode got pretty deep afterward when Schulman started talking about how he’s not happy playing poker right now, and he doesn’t see it as a lifelong pursuit. He said that he could see himself following another career path later on down the road.

Big words for a former WPT champion who became a multi-millionaire at the age of 21 after winning $2.1 million. I guess fame and fortune aren’t everything for some people…..especially when you blow through your $2.1 million in a matter of months.
